Missourians delivered a clear message: <strong>Don\u2019t end majority rule in Missouri.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/progressmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/FullSizeRender1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Missourians hold signs in support of Protecting Majority Rule \" class=\"wp-image-954\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Majority rule has been law in Missouri for more than 100 years, but now politicians want to rig the rules so that a small minority of Missourians can veto any statewide proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThe principle of \u2018one person, one vote\u2019 is key to our freedom to make decisions about policies that will impact us and our families,\u201d said <strong>Elizabeth Franklin, resident of Plattsburg<\/strong>. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter where you live, one person\u2019s vote should not matter more or less than any other vote. Attendees also spoke to lawmakers in support of protecting election workers from threats and harassment, and restoring voting rights to those on probation and parole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cLike most Missourians, I work hard,\u201d <strong>Alejandro Gallardo of Columbia<\/strong> told the crowd. \u201cI put in long hours as a restaurant worker, and I bust my butt each day. Despite my dedication and hard work, I often found myself in a difficult situation. Calling in sick to care for myself \u2013 losing out on a day\u2019s pay or risk getting my coworkers and customers sick while earning the paycheck I need to survive. <strong>Now, because of Missouri\u2019s initiative petition process, I no longer have to make those tough decisions<\/strong>. <strong>I joined with hundreds of volunteers to take democracy into our own hands and collect signatures and pass a law that we needed and lawmakers in Jefferson City refused to do.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>More than two dozen bills threatening majority rule and proposing changes to the initiative petition process have already been filed.
