According to an analysis from the Missouri Independent, <a href=\"https:\/\/missouriindependent.com\/2024\/02\/05\/as-few-as-1-in-5-voters-could-defeat-initiative-petitions-under-missouri-senate-proposal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">as few as 23% of voters<\/a> \u2013 a majority in the four districts with the lowest number of voters in 2020 and 2022 \u2013 could defeat a statewide ballot measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The legislature continues to ignore public outcry to their plans to end majority rule, which has been overwhelming and bipartisan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Progress MO is calling on Missourians from all parts of the state to <a href=\"https:\/\/actionnetwork.org\/letters\/329e28e43eaa3acf00ea6c3596bc7eff1965d5a1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">urgently contact their legislators<\/a> to demand that they vote no on these efforts to dismantle majority rule and seize their rights in Missouri.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Freedom Caucus members smear KC dad, spread fear and hate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"543\" src=\"https:\/\/progressmo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/loudermill-1024x543.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-639\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gallant-mclaren.18-188-198-158.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/loudermill-1024x543.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/gallant-mclaren.18-188-198-158.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/loudermill-300x159.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gallant-mclaren.18-188-198-158.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/loudermill-768x407.jpg 768w, https:\/\/gallant-mclaren.18-188-198-158.plesk.page\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/loudermill.jpg 1140w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption><em>Denton Loudermill and his family in their neighborhood, via family photo shared with the Kansas City Star.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This week also featured continued swamp creature behavior from the \u201cFreedom\u201d Caucus when members and the Caucus\u2019s own social media channels were caught falsely accusing a KC dad of being a mass shooter and illegal immigrant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three Missouri lawmakers shared posts with a photo of a man that claimed him as one of the suspects in the mass shooting, which killed one person and injured more than 20 people. The post not only smeared an innocent man but also falsely fueled illegal immigration fears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Asked for an apology, lawmakers instead doubled down. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kansascity.com\/news\/politics-government\/article285800426.html\">As reported in the Kansas City Star<\/a>, Sen. Rick Brattin, R-Harrisonville and chair of the hard-right Missouri Freedom Caucus, refused to apologize or even recognize that they did anything wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not even commenting on that,\u201d Brattin told the Kansas City Star. \u201cThat\u2019s not even part of the discussion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When pressed, Brattin signaled that he didn\u2019t think his false post was worth an apology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing that I even see \u2013 even worth that,\u201d he said. \u201cSo we\u2019ve done nothing.
