But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcur.org\/politics-elections-and-government\/2024-01-09\/missouri-freedom-caucus-republicans-2024-legislative-session\">the Freedom Caucus is here and ready to screw that up.<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Freedom Caucus has said its members plan to go through legislation with a fine-tooth comb, searching for ways to make it more conservative. Anything that doesn\u2019t pass the test, they\u2019ll do their best to keep from passing. Get ready for some lengthy (and stupid) floor debate \u2013 and don\u2019t hold your breath for policy that helps Missourians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Legislature Is Hearing Bills To Defund Neighborhood Schools<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, legislators in committees heard a handful of bills to expand <a href=\"https:\/\/missouriindependent.com\/2024\/01\/10\/missouri-senate-panel-debates-expanding-tax-credit-scholarships-for-private-school-tuition\/\">voucher<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.missourinet.com\/2024\/01\/10\/missouri-open-enrollment-bill-gets-early-start\/\">open enrollment programs<\/a>, which would strip funding from Missouri public schools. One of the bills, proposed by Sen.
